Registration deadline: 48 hours before class. Staff-taught classes will not run with fewer than 3 students. Classes taught by non-staff members may have a higher minimum and have a one-week before class registration deadline.

ORIENTATION

Description: All new members must attend a free, one-hour orientation session to learn all the benefits and responsibilities of membership in this dynamic media center.

Date & Time: Saturdays 11:00am-Noon:  July 7, August 11, September 15

Mondays 6:00-7:00pm:  July 16, August 13, September 17.

PRODUCING IN STUDIO A

Description:  Do you want to produce a TV show in the LTC studio? With your own production group, learn the basics of three-camera production in LTC’s large studio in three sessions. The class will be geared to your show’s unique production needs. Minimum of three participants.

PRODUCING IN STUDIO B

Description: In one session, you’ll learn to use Studio B’s Tricaster, a multi- camera production system with advanced video features for virtual sets, digital roll-ins from files or the Internet, phone calls, and much more. This smaller studio is primarily used for talk shows with green screen backgrounds.

FIELD PRODUCTION BASICS

Description: Learn to use LTC’s high-definition video cameras, microphones and portable lighting kits to shoot professional-looking video outside the studio. Students will have practice time on the Sony NX5U and the Sony X70 cameras. Also covered are “shooting for the edit” and shot composition. Students are encouraged to also sign up for the Final Cut Pro X edit class.

Section 1: Thursdays, August 2 and 9; 6:00 – 9:00pm.

Section 2: Thursdays, September 6 and 13; 6:00 – 9:00pm

 EDITING WITH FINAL CUT PRO X

Description: Get started editing your video with Apple’s professional editing software, Final Cut Pro X. In this one-session class you will learn to import footage, work in a timeline, add graphics and music, and export your finished project.

EDITING WITH ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS

Description: Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application that is used in video post-production. Among other things, After Effects can be used for keying, tracking, compositing and animation. This program can greatly enhance your video project. This three session class will get you started creating stunning visual effects.

Prerequisite: Ability to edit with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Date & Time: Mondays, June 11, 18; 6:00 – 9:00pm.

REMOTE PRODUCTION WORKSHOP

Description:  In one session, learn to use LTC’s HD video cameras to crew on a remote production. Learn the process of covering a live event and how to work as a crew member.

* LTC’s broadcast of the Lowell Folk Festival on July 28 and 29 needs volunteers to operate cameras at the Market Street Stage  and in the studio.

*LTC’s coverage of the Southeast Water Festival on August 18 needs camera people and interviewers.

*LTC’s coverage of the Kinetic Sculpture Race on September  23 needs camera people and interviewers.

Description: A one-session class for those with little or no computer experience, starting from the basics– “How do I turn this thing on?”–to keeping up in a class that uses the MAC.

Description: A one-session class introducing PC users to the MAC and its operating system. It builds on your existing computer knowledge and examines the similarities and differences between how Macs and PCs work.
