Registration deadline: 48 hours before class. Staff-taught classes will not run with fewer than 3 students. Classes taught by non-staff members may have a higher minimum and have a one-week before class registration deadline.

ORIENTATION

Description: All new members must attend a free, one-hour orientation session to learn all the benefits and responsibilities of membership in this dynamic media center.

Date & Time: Saturdays 11:00am-Noon: June 17, July 15, August 19.

Mondays 6:00-7:00pm: June 19, July 10, August 14.

Supernatural Filmmaking for Teens

 

Description:  Produce an original ghost movie at LTC!  For Lowell teens 14 – 19 years old.  $100 stipend for participation.

In this four-week intensive summer media program, eight teens will learn all phases of film production from scriptwriting to the final edit as they create an original supernatural or ghost film about historic figures in Lowell. The film will incorporate scenes shot around Lowell and in LTC’s state-of-the-art TV studios. The students will perform all roles in the project, including as actors.

This class is funded through a grant from the Lowell Cultural Council in partnership with the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

PODCASTING AT LTC

Description: A podcast is a digital audio file that is posted on the Web for others to download or stream. They are usually created as a series of episodes with a similar theme. Podcasts are similar to radio programs, but instead of being broadcast over the airwaves, they are audio files accessible on the Internet. Listeners can play them at their convenience, using smart phones or computers.

LTC, in collaboration with Middlesex Community College, has set up a new audio production/podcasting studio. You will learn how to operate the audio equipment, how to post files to the LTC podcast webpage, and the basics of creating compelling audio content. Podcasts cannot include copyrighted content.

PRODUCING IN STUDIO A

Description: Studio A transitioned to high definition in December 2016. In this three-session class, learn the basics of three-camera production. Session 1 teaches you to use the cameras, microphones, lighting board, and set design. Session 2 focuses on control room features: the Tricaster switcher, engineering, audio board, teleprompter, and recording. Session 3 provides hands-on crewing on a live music show.

PRODUCING IN STUDIO B

Description: In one session, you’ll learn to use Studio B’s Tricaster, a multi- camera production system with advanced video features for virtual sets, digital roll-ins from files or the Internet, phone calls, and much more. This smaller studio is primarily used for talk shows with green screen backgrounds.

FIELD PRODUCTION BASICS

Description: Learn to use LTC’s high-definition video cameras, microphones and portable lighting kits to shoot professional-looking video outside the studio. Also covered are “shooting for the edit” and shot composition. Students are encouraged to also sign up for the Final Cut Pro X or the Adobe Premiere Pro edit class.

 EDITING WITH FINAL CUT PRO X

Description: Get started editing your video with Apple’s professional editing software, Final Cut Pro X. In this one-session class you will learn to import footage, work in a timeline, add graphics and music, and export your finished project.

SMART PHONE VIDEO PRODUCTION

(Not offered in the Summer)

Description: You already have all the gear you need to create your own video or documentary in your pocket!  In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the foundations of real-world storytelling and how to use your Apple iPhone to craft an insightful film using minimal gear to gain maximum access.  At the conclusion of this class, you will have created a peer-reviewed video ready for sharing online or on TV.

Requirements: All participants will be required to bring an iPhone. Please download and install iMovie for your device before the start of class.  Also, it is strongly suggested that you have a pair of headphones that have a built-in mic.  All iPhones come packaged with a pair or you can purchase a $15 pair by skull candy at Target.

Instructor Caroline Gallagher has been producing video since the 1980’s using all types of video cameras. She has produced several pieces using her iPhone and iMovie.

Description: This 3-session class is an intense, comprehensive HTML/CSS class for those who are serious about web design. The class is taught using the widely popular Wordpress. Students will be notified of any text requirement.

TV Post Producción y Edición en Español
